The Madd Rapper - I Wanna Get High

Some of you have heard of him, some of you have not, but The Madd Rapper (or D-Dot) has been in the Hip Hop scene for years. He has worked with the Bad Boy group with artists such as The Notorious B.I.G, Puff Daddy, Mase etc. and also collaborated with 50 Cent on the G-Unit rapper's unreleased album "Power of the Dollar" on which they made the track "How To Rob". He's also worked with Kanye West.

He's released a new freestyle in 2010 called "I Wanna Get High". It's got a really funky beat and some delivery in his own, unique style!

So, today Shawn Lov contacted me and sent me his new song, a collaboration with Sadat X of Brand Nubian. I have to say, i was simply amazed by it. I haven't heard such a great track in a long time! It really has a 90s sound to it, and great mic skills by both MCs.

This is what the radio of today needs, not the "bubble-gum" artists that are promotod by money-hungry corporations.

In 1994, at 16, Shawn Lov released his first album Speak of the Devil and ever since has been building a solid fan base through the internet and live shows. Lov made his first national appearance on "Amateur Night at the Apollo" in 1996 where he performed on the same evening as the legendary Big Pun and Ol' Dirty Bastard. Following that success, Shawn Lov graced the stage to showcase his skills on the nationally syndicated "Jenny Jones Show" in 1998. Riding on his underground popularity and prepared to release a new album, Lov hooked up with New Jersey based hip-hop producer Tony D, the producer behind New Jersey based hip-hop acts such as Y-Z and Poor Righteous Teachers who have recorded classics such as "Rock Dis Funky Joint" and "Tower with the Power." Lov's second album The G.O.D spawned catchy tracks like "The Lov Dr." which was later worked into a music video and was featured on networks such as Black Entertainment Television. Shawn Lov's following 2 albums proved to be underground classics but his creative flow did not stop there. Lov published his first book A Brief History of Rhyme and Bass: Growing Up With Hip Hop. Half the true story of the evolution of hip hop and its artists, the other side of the book is a sometimes painfully honest autobiography- life lessons learned the hard way that only true hip hop fans could identify with. Enter the new chapter of Shawn Lov's career. After ten years as an independent artist and a promising major label record deal that went sour, New Jersey native Shawn Lov hooked up with Melbourne, Australia based label NuffSaid Records for his 2004 album The Blackout of 1977 and then returned in 2007 on the same label with the best album of his 15-year career Waiting for a Ghost. With an incredibly deft display of lyricism, Shawn Lov has crafted a poignant and personal set of songs that encapsulate his long career as an undaunted underdog. He is one of rawest, most impassioned rappers in the underground.

American and Romanian Hip-Hop Collaboration

America has it's hip-hop legends, like 2Pac, Biggie, N.W.A., Wu-Tang Clan etc.
Well, Romania has it's own, with a pretty strong history. The most appreciated and commercially succesfull hip-hop groups in Romania are B.U.G. Mafia and Parazitii.

About 3 years ago, Parazitii collaborated with Raekwon of Wu-Tang on their album "Slalom printre cretini".

Most of you may not have heard of it but it's a nice gem so here it is, for a wider audience.

Blakroc - Hip Hop and Rock DOWNLOAD LINK

November 2009 blessed us with one of the most interesting projects in music in the last years. Co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, Damon Dash pertenerd with blues-rock band The Black Keys and came up with "Blakroc". A collaborative album between The Black Keys and various Hip-Hop artists.
Album guests include Raekwon, RZA and the late Ol' Dirty Bastard of the Wu-Tang Clan, Jim Jones and NOE of ByrdGang, Mos Def, singer Nicole Wray, Pharoahe Monch, Ludacris, Billy Danze of M.O.P., and Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest.

The album was generally received well by consumers and critics. The album reached Number 1 and Number 7 on the US Billboard Heatseakers chart and US Billboard Top Rap Albums respectively. Nick Neyland of BBC music stated in his review "this is a surprisingly compelling and welcome rejoining of the rap and rock worlds that successfully captures the off-the-cuff nature of the recording sessions.

It's really a unique sound and a fine piece in every Hip-Hop collection.

The Music Channel

So it's been about 3 years since I first joined the Youtube community. On July 02, 2007, my first channel, 47Alex47 was started. I was attracted to the ideea of creating my own space where I could share my videos with the entire world.
I had a good time uploading different types of videos, but a year later, I decided to make another, more solid channel based on just one topic: Hip-Hop. By that time, I gained more knowledge of the culture of Hip-Hop itself so it was only natural when I decided to take my Youtube contribution to another level.

On July 16, 2008, alexChase187 saw the light of sun, and now, 2 years later I reached 200 video-uploads and almost 3 million views on them.

The wholde ideea of the channel is to bring people the real Hip-Hop music that they want, as an alternative to the money-corrupted radio and television industries of today that have done nothing but promoting talentless excuses for rap artists.

My uploaded music consits of not only well-known artists such as Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang Clan, The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, Jadakiss, Mos Def and others, but also many underground rappers such as Wordsmith, Evidence, Statik Selekta, Noah, Blu, Ras Kass, Saigon, St. Laz etc. and even unsigned freestylers such as Reemo .

Also, my next project is to make music reviews, rants, bring news and other such activities, so that is why I created this blog.

I would like to thank all my subscribers and viewers for the support they gave me over time, and I'd like to invite more people to my community, on Youtube, and on my Blog because the Hip-Hop movement will never end!

The End of the 2000s and a Top 10 in Hip-Hop

So the 2000s have come to an end. It's been 10 years in which some of hip-hop's veterans have reinforced their reputation and some have ruined it. 10 years in which some rappers went from nothing to Platinum-selling artists, and some that have been nothing more than one hit wonders.

It's been a decade that has, on one hand, spawned classic albums such as: Big L - The Big Picture, Binary Star - Masters of the Universe, Eminem - The Marshall Matters LP, Masta Ace - A Long Hot Summer, Jay-Z - The Blueprint, Nas - Stillmatic, Wu-Tang Clan - The W (to name a few), and on the other hand made famous, people like : Soulja Boy, Gucci Mane, Hurricane Chris, Mims, Lil Boosie and other such morons that have destroyed the original essence of hip-hop music.

So, now that the decade has come to an end, I decided to make a top 10 hip-hop songs video. This is an extremely hard top to make because of so many possible songs, and it's also a matter of personal opinion.
